About auPSI

  auPSI stands for "enabling access to and use of Australian public sector information (PSI) and data". 


The auPSI project was initiated in 2007 by a group of researchers in Brisbane, Australia with the objective of developing information policy in order to enable access to, and encourage the use of, public sector information (PSI) and government data for social, cultural and economic advancement.  


The auPSI site provides access to research, publications, presentations and other materials produced by members of the auPSI project team including Dr Anne Fitzgerald, Neale Hooper, Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Dr John Cook and Dr Cheryl Foong.

auPSI's mission

 The auPSI project's objectives are to:


  • promote debate and discussion about the re-use of public sector information (PSI) and government data in Australia and worldwide;
  • keep users informed about international developments in this area; 
  • focus on  developing and implementing open content licensing models (such as       Creative Commons), to promote access to and re-use of government      information and data;
  • contribute to the development of   policies about enabling access to and encouraging the re-use of public sector information (PSI) and government data; 
  • keep users informed about international developments in this area; and
  • assist governments and policy makers on the development of appropriate policy and implementation of systems relating to the creation, collection, development and dissemination of public sector information (PSI) and government data.
